At Trufab Ltd we provide metal fabrication services for a wide range of clients, and work with a variety of different metals to ensure everyone’s needs are met.

With years of knowledge and experience, our team can create high-quality, bespoke products using a wide range of techniques, including mild steel fabrication.

What is Mild Steel?

This is carbon steel that contains only a low level of carbon, which is why you’ll also hear it referred to as low carbon steel.

Containing an estimated 0.05% and 0.25% of carbon, it is primarily made of iron and ferrite and is a great material for metal fabrication.

What is Mild Steel Fabrication?

The process of turning raw metal into a part used within the assembly process, mild steel fabrication is similar to any other form of metal fabrication as it can be:

  • Cut
  • Folded
  • Punched
  • Sheared
  • Stamped
  • Welded
  • And more

What makes mild steel a good material to use in the fabrication process is, despite it being low in carbon content, it has excellent strength and can be formed into a wide variety of shapes. It is also much lighter than other metals, perfect if you want a lighter weight product and is more cost-effective for those working on a low budget.

Examples of items that can benefit from mild steel fabrication include:

  • Pipelines
  • Gates
  • Fencing
  • Structural steel
  • Machinery parts
  • Steel frames for buildings
  • Lifts
  • And many more …
